Hello Everyone,

   This week we will talk about the advantages of parking your vehicle in a public place. first of all the question. Which is better to park close to the door or just park where you can find a spot? This is the question we ask ourselves during the busy holiday rush. Are you the type of person that drives around to find the right parking spot or shop so early you are there when the doors open. I personally never let that worry ever bother me. I shop when I need and park wherever I can. Why is that. I keep awareness of my surroundings all the time. I also do everything to not look like a victim. Being in Law Enforcement since 1984 I have learned that most criminals look for the weakest victim to make it the easiest on themselves.  If you look vigilant and like you are ware and prepared these predators will move on to the next person. So the answer is don't get bothered about something that should be a happy occasion. Shopping for our loved ones should be a happy time. Don't sweat something like parking and don't worry about getting the closest spot to the door. Take your time and enjoy your experience. Week 1 overview

Now that the Time of years is creeping up on us lets not let the predators of thieves "Creep up on us". Be aware of your surroundings when out shopping and parking at the malls. Too many victims become a victim just by not paying attention. The years of Law Enforcement and Military training always keeps me looking for trouble but when we go about our everyday lives things can happen. Be ready to protect yourself and your family at all times. Now is the time to "Be aware and get Prepared". Always keep your keys in your hand and ready to go before you get to your vehicle. A criminal can surprise you while you are fumbling in your purse or pockets looking and your hands are busy. let someone else be the victim not you. Steve Maxwell, owner of Maxwell Investigations LLC is offering a comprehensive, women and teen girls self defense class that begins with awareness, prevention, and risk reduction, and then continues with hands on defense training. The 2 hour class is designed to emphasize confidence and empowerment, while developing and enhancing options for self-defense.

I just finished my CCW class this weekend with.  Wow, I can't believe how much I enjoyed it! I not only met some great people, but I learned a ton of valuable information and I feel much more confident in my abilities to protect myself and my family. 

 

The time on the range was everyone's favorite part.  We were able to practice loading & target shooting in many different scenarios; low light, close range, 50 ft range, multiple targets, etc. We learned how to "tap & clear" when we had a misfire and I had many misfires!!! The instructor was able to determine that the ammo I was using was bad.  He was right because as soon as I switched ammo I didn't have any misfires.

 

I would highly recommend this class to EVERYONE, even if you don't plan on carrying a gun. The instructor was Buck Myers and I have to say he did a "bang up" job! He is very experienced in this field and he is such a friendly and personable guy.  He really knows how to teach the subject without making it boring. 

 

I made some great friends in this class and we are already planning a class reunion...forget the covered dish, we are just bringing our guns!

 

 

 

 

 

Most social networks' users are hit by online scams almost daily - whether its the ubiquitous survey scam or the "share your cell phone number, get subscribed for a premium number service".

These schemes, however annoying they might be, are nothing when compared to those perpetrated by professional con artists that have discovered the advantages of hunting for their pray online.

"The Internet has made it simple for a con artist to reach millions of potential victims at minimal cost," says the North American Securities Administrators Association. "Many of the online scams regulators see today are merely new versions of schemes that have been fleecing offline investors for years."

Users of social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn are usually the most targeted, since once a user accepts a scammer as a friend or contact/connection, his list of friends and contacts is made available to the con artist.

He can then approach those people as a "friend of a friend", and can used the information shared by them on those sites to quickly establish trust.

Eileen AJ Connelly says that these crooks employ the same tactics they would use on offline investors: they offer fast and high returns for little or no risk and they use professionally made bogus sites touting the scheme but offering very few details on it or about the company they want the target to invest in.

They avoid giving out written information about the investment, and can sometimes ask targets to set up online accounts to transfer the money. They also offer bonuses that make targets more likely to recruit family and friends into the scheme.

Luckily, there are mechanisms one can use and behaviors one can adopt in order to minimize the risk for themselves and their friends:

I believe that we choose to be a victim by the way we carry ourselves and certain traits that human Predators look for. A Predator is a predator whether a Lion or the Eagle. The common thread is all predators prey on the weak, or those that appear weak and an easy target. How do you let the other guy look easier than you? Tell me what you think.
